High-Protein, Low-Carb Shake
A great way to start the day!
Blend the following ingredients together with a blender, food processor, immersion blender or Magic Bullet:
• 1 scoop PROTEIN POWDER --- 1 serving protein
- Either soy or whey
- Available at GNC (Carlingwood), Costco, Popeye, or other stores
- Flavoured (i.e. vanilla) or unflavoured
- Brand names we've tried and enjoyed:
- Champion Nutrition – Pure Whey Powder
- Premier Nutrition Protein Powder (Costco brand)
- Syntha-6
- Pro Performance
- Muscle Milk
• ½ cup Liberté Yogurt (greek yogurt – high protein) –
plain, 0% fat --- 1 serving protein
• 1 cup strawberries --- 1 serving fruit
• 1 cup skim milk (to liquefy) --- 1 serving dairy
You can add water instead of milk if you like – or, half water, half milk, ice cubes, etc.
There are a wide variety of different flavours of protein powder – get whichever one you think would satisfy you the most. Try using different types of fruit for variety (i.e. frozen, mixed berries make the shake colder & thicker). If you're not a fan of plain Greek yogurt, use flavoured yogurt instead. Some people add sweetener if they find the shake isn't sweet enough. Other people add things like almond extract or peanut butter to change the flavour.
