Success Takes Attitude!
Losing weight and keeping it off takes effort. Not physical effort, but mental effort. It's not easy, but nothing worthwhile in life is easy. Every day we must tune our brains towards healthy eating (meaning planning your meals) and regular exercise (yes, you must do this even when you may not feel like it) no matter what else is happening at home or work. We cannot use outside events as an excuse to eat whatever we want and not to exercise.
A basic truth of life is what you put into it is what you get back. The rewards you get out of any endeavor depend on the amount of effort you put into it.
Many people focus on the wrong thing. They get bogged down by their job, their relationships, or simply their lives in general. They feel they are not getting enough out of life. But, "what are you putting into life?” While you wait for things to be ‘just right' you put off your goals of looking better, feeling better, and having more balance.
You need to put in a lot of effort and search for every possibility to reach your goal, and not let anything or any feeling get in your way.
Don't be discouraged if the rewards of your efforts are not immediately forthcoming. If you keep trying and don't ever forget your goal, you will get there. Maybe not next week or next month, but if you keep on trying to succeed and never allow yourself to give up or get discouraged, I'll guarantee you will see the success you want. People fall short of their goal not because they lack ability but because they gave up too soon.
I'll leave you with a few thoughts for the week:
• Be yourself - do your very best in everything you do. After every task, every meal, every exercise session, ask yourself: "Can I do better?” Do the little extras you'd rather not do. Can you do a few push ups, a few abdominal crunches or a 10-minute walk even if you feel tired?
• If you find yourself not succeeding, pick up a pad of paper and write down your goals and ideas for solutions to things that are standing in your way. Journaling always gets people back on track. Come up with ways that you can improve the things you're doing now and ways you can improve in the future.
• Are you really getting enough exercise? Can you do more? Are you making excuses not to walk or go to the gym? Can you muster up that extra effort and "just do it?”
• Focus on some degree of balance. Eat nutritionally well, get enough sleep, exercise, and spend time with family and friends. All our time is stretched with demands of work and home life. Find time for yourself. Meditate while you walk, plan to eat regularly and know that you will have more energy if you eat the proper foods instead of those that cause fatigue and quick weight gain.
You are in charge; you and you alone are in charge of your attitude and how much effort you are going to put into planning (food) and exercise. Your greatest successes in life will come from times of failure, fear and mistakes. So, don't ever quit, don't ever get upset at setbacks, and keep trying. You can do it.
