The Diet Doctor's Cabbage Stir Fry
Ingredients:
1 medium green cabbage
5 oz. butter
1 ½ lbs. ground meat of choice
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon onion powder
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
1 tablespoon red curry paste
1 clove garlic, crushed
½ yellow onion, finely chopped
½ cup fresh cilantro
Sour cream to garnish
Method:
? Shred the cabbage with a knife or in a food processor, as finely as possible.
? Melt half the butter in a large frying pan or wok and fry the cabbage until it is soft but not brown.
? Add the salt, onion powder, pepper and vinegar. Stir and fry for a few more minutes. Put the cabbage in a bowl and set aside.
? Melt the remainder of the butter. Add garlic, onion and curry paste and sauté for one minute. Add the ground meat and fry until it is cooked and most of the juices have evaporated.
? Lower the heat a little and add the cabbage. Stir until the dish is evenly hot.
? Chop the cilantro and place on top with sour cream as a garnish if desired.
Makes 4 servings; count each serving as 3 proteins and 1 fat. Add another fat per tablespoon of sour cream used.
